Toby Cowern
Toby has had a keen interest and has passionately practiced survival skills from an early age. Attending his first formal survival courses from the age of 12 onwards, the bulk of Toby’s childhood and formative teen years were spent roaming around his local forest areas with some valuable direction provided by his keen amateur naturalist father. As a competitive and keen sportsman in many diverse disciplines, Toby started a career in Leisure Management largely to facilitate the time required for him to be outdoors as much as possible. To further complement his chosen career Toby joined the reserve armed forces, beginning with the Royal marines, aged 21, of which he was a long term and committed member.
Since moving to Sweden, Toby’s office is now almost exclusively outdoors, where he spends his time tracking, hunting and researching, practicing and refining relevant survival techniques. More recently he has undertaken the distance learning Kamana Awareness programme, regarded as one of the most ‘immersed’ naturalist training packages available. Currently at level 3, Toby aspires to be one of the elite few people worldwide to have reached level 4 accreditation

ABOUT US
At Storm Bushcraft it’s all about surviving and thriving in the natural environment, and the acquisition of ancient skills and knowledge to do so. Our bushcraft skills include; fire craft, tracking, hunting, shelter building, the use of tools such as knives and axes, foraging, hand-carving wood, container construction from natural materials, rope and twine-making, and many others.
These are the kinds of skills well known to our ancient predecessors, many of which are still practiced today as an everyday skill amongst aboriginal and native peoples around the world.
Our instructors have been involved in Bushcraft for many years, this is a great benefit for you, as you will be learning the raw skills of survival using basic techniques and tools.
In many cases courses are over hyped and dramatised, missing out on the solid knowledge and the foundations of Bushcraft skills.
With Storm Bushcraft it is serious learning. Our courses are in the wild, with numerous levels available. All courses are supervised by our Trained Instructors, so your'e never left in the dark. The locations we have chosen are spectacular in both visual as well as hands on environments. ( And yes it may become harsh at times, depending on the level of Course chosen.)
We hope to see you soon, if you have any questions, feel free to drop us a line. In the mean time check out our instructors as well as the current courses for 2010.
